The end of a wonderful summer vacation and my return was welcomed all round when we treated the staff to a luch starting with celeriac and apple moulade with salad and lemon oil, followed by beef bourguignon with herby mashed potato. The dessert was superb with poached pear with cardamom and mint syrup on an almond sponge, with apple sorbet. An excellent assortment of cheeses followed on the cheese board, together with black coffee and one of my usual Cognacs.

AH, packed lunch again, how i hate, but a nice ham sandwich, i only like the crust that seems to be glossy though, it turned out to be roast honey ham! i had some walkers baked crisps aswell, there a lot nicer than the fryed ones, even if there are less of them, so packed lunch followed with a talk about the Ku Klux Klan with my friends, :D p.s. DOWN WITH THE KLAN!

Today is a beautiful day in the Nation's Capital. I lunched at a deli called Heidi's near the World Bank and the White House. You would think they would pick a better locale, but the scary people need to eat too. Well, Heidi's is very nice. The sandwiches are good. They have very nice homemade bread. As it is a holiday week, there are very few people around, so it was not too chaotic in the lunch line. I got a seat no problem. I sat and munched, listened to some tunes and read the paper. I didn't even have to feel guilty for taking up a seat once I finished my lunch. There were plenty of seats today. I love DC when everyone is out of town!
