Lunch was just so so delicious on Monday. We started with deep fried mozzarella, and tomato and pimento relish. Sally had warm sechuan peppered tuna with teriyaki dressing. We then had rosemary roasted rib eye steak, and balsamic vine tomatoes. Dessert was baked vanilla cheesecake served with roasted apricots. I made up for the lack of my favorite Cognac last week and had two or three glasses with my coffee. An excellent repast. The Cognac always improves my spelling.

Get someone to give you 1 bar of German chocolate and then grate it and add 3/4 of it to some Duncan Hines yellow cake mix with, or maybe something similar and past its sell by date: 1/2 c. vegetable oil 1 c. water 1 sm. pkg. instant vanilla pudding. If you can't get someone to give you these two items, so what the heck!
Beat everything for 5 minutes (to you; three) and add 1 package of 6 oz. chocolate chips to mixture and bake in bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes. If you wish, you can sell the remaining grated chocolate to your friends.

KOSHER GARLIC DILL PICKLES My Yiddisher Momma's recipe.
24 to 30 small, very firm Kirby cucumbers, free of bruises or brown spots.
7 or 8 cloves garlic, unpeeled but lightly crushed.
1 teaspoon coriander seeds.
1 teaspoon mustard seeds.
1 teaspoon black peppercorns.
4 or 5 small, dried hot red peppers, or 1/2 teaspoon crushed, dried hot red Italian peppers.

On Monday we worked over lunch and had sandwiches delivered. When I sau sandwiches, well that is an understatement. The "sandwichwes" consisted of a selection of mini rolls. Various savoury items including chicken satays in different marinades, spicy chorizo pastries, mini pork pies, cheese and spinach filos, tiger prawns with chilli dip, sticky sausages, etc and also crudites, tortilla chips and dips. Cheese and fruit platter to finish with. A great pity about the Cognac, but maybe tomorrow.

I went to see Raffie Bridge this lunch time. He has a fantastic vegetarian organic cafe/deli juice bar, Pure Organika at Orrell near Wigan. You'd never find it if you didn't know about it, down a dirt track, surrounded by fields and peace and tranquility, it is a rare find happen. The salads are pretty damned good, picked fresh from an organic herb farm. It's nice to get away from the feeling that the murdered land lady at the Hare and Hounds is hanging about like a bad smell.

Lunch today was with Bethany at the Hare & Hounds. I had 'Hunters' Chicken Breast with steamed Leeks garnished with Yorkshire Blue Cheese and seasonal veg. Bethany had braised shoulder of lamb with honey glazed asparagus and seasonal veg. Sweet was toffee gateau and it was all washed down with a lovely bottle of Appletons strong somerset cider.

Monday was lunch on the go with a turkey pastrami sandwich with thin onion rings, strips of green sweet pepper, fat free low calorie Italian salad dressing (not the creamy kind), 4 French rolls turkey pastrami, thinly sliced reduced fat Swiss cheese, Roma tomatoes, and smothered in peppercorn mustard.

Sunday lunch was extremely enjoyable with crisp fillet of seabream with a saute of baby squid and a salad of olives,
tomatoes and capers for myself, and
tagliatelle of buttered wild mushrooms with pesto and toasted hazelnuts for my wife. For dessert we both had bitter chocolate torte with salted caramel ice cream. I then had several of mu usual Cognacs.
