I had thai chicken Pita Roll Up and it was good. I'm adding this cafe to the rotation of my lunch places. Getting sick of 7 dollar sandwich from WholeFoods anyway. they are overrated (though I eat there like 3 times a week).

Walked uptown on 2nd to an inexpensive Turkish restaurant reportedly run by a rude, foul-mouthed chef. I ordered the hummus -- amazing. Spinach and beef on rice -- not bad. Cherry juice -- great. And Turkish coffee -- great. The waitress was attentive and friendly, and the chef took a sales call from a meat distributor -- he didn't seem rude at all. I also learned that when someone asks you how you would like your Turkish coffee, they mean how sweet -- a little sweet or a lot. Mine was a little sweet. And a lot of yum.

KFC was the lunch today. Flaka had a two piece meal, original recipe with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. Gordo had a three piece meal, extra crispy with macaroni & cheese and cole slaw. A pepsi for Gordo and a diet coke for Flaka rounded out this Fun+ meal.

Today I had one of Candle Cafe's specials of the day, the Asian Style Wrap. I only ate half, because it was too big to eat in one sitting. Today I have lunch at Bali Nusa Indah, which I've been meaning to try for quite some time. I ignored the fact that it was (and is) like 150 degrees outside and popped inside for some hot food. I had KARI TAHU (tofu curry) and TERONG BELADO (sauteed eggplant in hot chili sauce). White rice came with the curry. Either of the dishes would have been enough (the curry was a main dish, the eggplant was a side) for lunch, but I HAD to have tastes of both. I now have leftovers for dinner! DELICIOUS. I will definitely go back. I'm already daydreaming about the next time ... and of tonight's leftovers. I may just have to eat them before dinner. Oh well.

Flaka and Gordo had leftovers today. Meatloaf with mashed yukon gold potatoes, gravy and steamed green beans. Flaka had a diet coke and Gordo an iced tea. It was a fun+ lunch because of the food, but not the SuperFUN lunch it could have been, since there was no time for games once the meal was consumed.

We took a break from putting together our new futon/couch frame to have tuna on wasa crackers. yum. tuna mixed up with turkish hot sauce, scallion and plain yogurt. wasa as it. plus some smoked polish cheese. iced coffee, water. the frame is together, with not much thanks to some very abstract directions from west elm. and a very sad hex wrench. thankfully we had our own adjustable wrenches and allen wrenches from our glorious boston bike days...

For a most enjoyable lunch I went to Engine House to have a steak and cheese sub with a coke. I was supposed to have a lunch meeting but that was canceled. I hate lunch meetings...they're not fun. But this was a fun lunch...why? Because I was reading the newspaper and I saw that Kevin Brown of the Yankees got shelled again. They Yanks are at .500 and in 4th place in the AL East. Yup, it's a good day to be a Sox fan.

Daigo, you gotta get outside, it is nice, at least here in new york. I was just outside, only to grab a salad and chicken and rice from WholeFoods, but the short walk was still nice. I had to make it a little longer walk by just going around the corner and cicling back to the store. The sunshine gives this lunch a fun plus. Would've been super fun if i hd time to take lunch to a park.

Lunch, which was fun, was pierogies purchased at the market down the street: mushroom sauerkraut--our favorite. boiled by me and served with wok-ed spinach. yes i know, a mixing of cultures. but hey, they are like chinese dumplings a little. and then back to polish: some simulated sour cream on top (actually plain yogurt). yum and double yum. still a half a package left for another day. yay.
